WiFi - WSU Wireless

An overview of how to connect to the WSU Wireless network available to all Students/Staff/Faculty on all campuses.

Windows 7 WSU Wireless Setup

  1. Click on the network connection icon in the system tray.
  2. Select WSU Wireless from the list of networks if available and click on Connect.
  3. Enter your WSU username and password and press OK (the same account you use for myWSU, Blackboard, etc).
  4. You will get a prompt to validate our server’s certificate. Clicking the details button should reveal that the certificate is for “radius.wsu.edu.”
  5. Click on Connect to allow the connection.

Windows 10 WSU Wireless Setup

  1. Click on the network connection icon in the system tray.
  2. Select WSU Wireless from the list of networks and click on Connect.
  3. Enter your WSU username and password and press OK (the same account you use for myWSU, Blackboard, etc).
  4. You will get a prompt to validate our server’s certificate. Clicking on “Show certificate details” should give a thumbprint of “ED 40 A2 55 9E ED 56 FE C0 00 F5 FE 93 55 1F 00 B0 B8 BD BD”. If any other thumbprint displays please contact IT.
  5. Click on Connect to allow the connection.

OS X WSU Wireless Setup

  1. Click on the wireless icon at the menu bar, and select the network named “WSU Wireless”
  2. Enter your WSU user name and password (the same as myWSU, Blackboard, etc).
  3. Verify that the certificate is for the server “radius.wsu.edu” then click Continue to accept the certificate.
  4. You may receive a message to enter your local computer’s username and password to accept the certificate changes.

iPhone/iPad/iPod WSU Wireless Setup

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Select Wi-Fi then select WSU Wireless.
    In the settings app select Wi-Fi then select the WSU Wireless network
  3. Type in your WSU username and password (same as myWSU, Blackboard, etc.) then click the Join button.

  4. Verify and accept the security certificate (it will be from radius.wsu.edu issued by AddTrust External CA Root).

WSU Wireless on Android Devices

Note: Your specific device may look different or have other options or defaults. If you need assistance please contact us.

  1. Open Wireless Settings. On these example devices you can swipe down the notification bar and Long Press on the wireless icon.
  2. Long press on the wireless notification bar button to open wireless settings
  3. Tap on the WSU Wireless network to open the connection settings.
  4. Tap on the WSU Wireless network
  5. Select the following information for the connection.
  6. Select, PEAP, MSCHAPv2, Use system certificates if available, radius.wsu.edu domain, WSU username, WSU password
  • EAP method: PEAP (default)
  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
  • CA certificate: Use system certificates – if available, otherwise select (Unspecified)
  • Domain (if Use system certificates is available): radius.wsu.edu
  • Identity: Your WSU login username
  • Anonymous identity: (leave blank)
  • Password: Your WSU login password (same as myWSU, blackboard, etc)

Linux (Ubuntu) WSU Wireless Setup


Linux clients may need additional information to connect to WSU Wireless.

WSU Wireless Setup

When using other clients or manually setting up a connection you should use these settings for connecting:

  • Wireless SSID: WSU Wireless
  • Securty: WPA2 Enterprise
  • Encryption: AES
  • Authentication type: Protected EAP (PEAP)
  • Inner authentication: MSCHAPv2
  • Identity and password: Your WSU username and password (same as myWSU, Blackboard, etc.)
