Blackboard: How to Assign Test Exceptions to One or More Students
Within Blackboard faculty have the ability to assign exceptions for a student or groups of students. The exceptions allow the faculty user to open the test at a different time or date as well as allot more or time for a specific student. Below is a tutorial on how to do it.
A quick tutorial with pictures that shows how to give an exception to a student or group within a test.
First and foremost, make sure that the edit button in the top right corner of your course shell is turned to "On" otherwise the option menus that you would need to access will not appear.
Hover your mouse next to your test, when you do a grey circle with a chevron will appear
Click the option for "Edit the Test Options"
If your test requires a time limit for a different student, Time Limit as an option must first be checked
After you have set the timer scroll further down and you find an section called Test Availability Options. This is the area where the faculty user can create exceptions for a singular student or groups of students. To start you will want to click on the button that says "Add User or Group"
After clicking the button a pop up window will appear and provide you a list of the students. This can also be broken up into groups.
Once you have selected the user or group you would like, click Submit. You will be brought back to the Test Options page. You will then see the user or group and options next to them for time allotted or date availability.
Click Submit at the bottom of the page to save all progress.
Notes: If a student has to take a test at a later time or date and test results are tied to all students completing the Test, the results will not publish until the last student has taken it or a score is provided to the student.
