Blackboard: How to Override Grades

How to override grades within Blackboard.

There are three methods to override grades in Blackboard.

Method 1:

  1. Using the Course Management Menu, go to the Grade Center option and click Full Grade Center.

  2. Find the column and the corresponding box for the student’s submission.

  3. Click the box. An option to type will appear. Type in the value you want, click out of the box.

  4. A pop up window will appear asking if you would like to submit that action. Click Yes. The grade has been overridden.

Method 2:

  1. Using the Course Management Menu, go to the Grade Center option and click Full Grade Center.

  2. Find the column and the corresponding box for the student’s submission.

  3. Hover your mouse over the box. A grey arrow will appear. Click the arrow and a drop down menu will appear. Choose the option for Grade Details.

  4. Choose the Manual Override option and add the value you would like. Once you are done, Blackboard will not ask you to submit or any other clarifications as it does normally on other pages (with the use of submit).
